Spring Snake Count 2012

The Center for Snake Conservation‘s first annual Spring Snake Count is almost here.  Over 100 participants in 29 states have already signed up to count snakes from May 12-20.  If you haven’t signed up yet then please do so now - Snake Count Registration

“Our goal during the SNAKE COUNT is to document every species of snake that occurs in the United States, Canada, and Mexico—YES, we are expanding the count to include all of North America. A lofty goal but the data we collect will confirm the existence of some rare species and provide baseline data to help us monitor populations of the more common species. In order to protect and conserve snakes, we must first know where they exist and why they may be disappearing in other areas. The SNAKE COUNT is the first step!”
