Huge Win For Rattlesnakes!!

Rattlesnakes just scored a huge win in Georgia.  The Claxton Rattlesnake Roundup is to be converted into the Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival with no roundup!!!  As most of you know roundups take a huge toll on rattlesnake populations.  They are also an extremely cruel event where animals are exposed to tremendous amounts of stress.  They also help to propagate fear and misunderstanding of rattlesnakes.  This a huge victory but we need your help to make sure this conversion takes place.  As with anything there are skeptics and opposition to ending the roundup.  So take a few minutes to send an e-mail or a phone call to voice your support of the new Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival.  Read more.

I’ve typed up this quick e-mail you are more than welcome to use to send to Bruce and the Chamber of Commerce:

Dear Evans County Wildlife Club and Chamber of Commerce,

I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to you for your decision to convert the Claxton Rattlesnake Roundup into the Claxton Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival.  As a supporter of reptile conservation I cannot emphasize enough the importance of rattlesnakes to our ecosystems.  These amazing creatures are not only beneficial at culling pest species like rodents but their venom may also serve as a means to fight cancer.  These snakes deserve our respect and awe not our fear and hatred.  Ending the cruel practice of a round-up and replacing it was a fun educational festival is a brilliant idea that I and many others fully support.  Thank you for making this possible and for saving the lives of rattlesnakes for generations to come.

Sincerely,
